Torrevieja is located just over 25 kilometers south of Alicante in Spain and the temperatures are between 15 and 35 degrees Celsius during much of the year. Thanks to the location and the pink salt lagoons that are in the area, it creates a microclimate and because of it. This microclimate is considered Torrevieja to be one of the healthiest places to live. The salt lagoons with their natural areas cover 55% of the municipality's surface and are covered by a protected natural park. There are guided tours to the salt lake and to the salt factory. In Torrevieja, over 100,000 inhabitants live and there are people from over 180 countries and cultures.

In Torrevieja you have about 10 beaches to choose from, from remote small bays to large popular beaches. Playa del Cura is a favorite among city residents. It is well located just north of the marina and a promenade where there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants. It is 375 meters long and 27 meters wide. Here it is important to get up early in the summer during the summer to get a good spot on the beach. Another very popular beach is La Mata beach which is considered the most beautiful and it is located in northern Torrevieja. There are plenty of activities and a dozen beach bars scattered along the beach. La Mata is the largest beach, 2363 meters long and 47 meters wide and it is handicapped accessible with several ramps so everyone can enjoy it. Playa Los Naufragos is located past the marina and the harbor in a southbound direction. It is 325 meters long and 77 meters wide. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the boats when you choose your place on the beach. This beach is very good for families with children. There are palm trees that provide shade and a small water park for the small children. These are examples of some of the stands you can enjoy in Torrevieja.

In Torrevieja center you have plenty of restaurants to eat at and shops to shop in. Most shops open at 10am and close for siesta a few hours in the afternoon and then have the evening open until about 20-22. There are 3 different boat clubs in the area with activities such as sailing, rowing, gym etc.. Just outside central Torrevieja is the Habaneras shopping center. The water park, which is open between June and September, is a much appreciated activity by the children. There are two market days to choose from, on Wednesdays in La Mata and on Fridays in Torrevieja. The markets are approx. between: 8.30-14.30. Here you will find most things that you may need.

From the Torrevieja center also boats go to the beautiful island of Tabarca. The island is located about 20 kilometers outside Alicante, near the Santa Pola headland. The boat goes from the "Port of Torrevieja" and the journey takes about 40 min. On the island you can enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine in the many bars available. On the south side there is a sandy beach and otherwise the island is known for its clear water and the bays and cliffs that line the island.
